HISTORY OF REIKI
Founded by Dr. Mikao Usui, Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique used for stress reduction and relaxation, that promotes energetic healing on all levels. This divine technique is based on the idea that energy, our “life force” flows through us and is the fuel of our life.
The word Reiki originates from two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which means, "life force energy".
When our life force is low, it generates stress, sickness, and conditions the emotional and mental body. Reiki proves to be a natural, safe, and simple method of energetic healing and self-improvement that can benefit anyone.
BENEFITS OF REIKI
Promotes Balance & Harmony
This energy healing modality has the power to enhance the body’s natural healing ability while promoting overall wellness. It is my belief as a healer that we all have the power to heal ourselves. Reiki helps restore the body’s natural self-healing ability, by returning it to its natural state. Healing energetic pathways that have been disrupted over time.
Stabilizes the Nervous system
Our nervous system is comprised of many parts, including the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). The CNS consists of the brain and spinal cord, which this area is controlled by the conscious mind. The ANS is controlled by the subconscious mind and is the part of the nervous system that supplies the internal organs, regulating the heart and respiration rate. This system has two main divisions, Sympathetic & Parasympathetic; the sympathetic nervous system is known as fight or flight, while the parasympathetic is known as rest and digest. While the sympathetic response is unconscious, the parasympathetic needs to be activated by the individual. Reiki activates the parasympathetic nervous system as the energy is channeled from the practitioner to the client. This stimulation brings the body, mind and spirit in balance, decreases the negative effects of chronic stress, boosts energy/mood, and improves the overall physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health of the client.
A typical Reiki session may last between 30-60 minutes. During the session, the Reiki practitioner places his or her hands at various energetic points around the body. The practitioner’s hands are held at each spot, slightly away from the body, channeling Reiki to the client. While most people feel the effects of Reiki right away, others may feel the effects after their session. Common feelings include tingling, warm sensations, and a deep relaxation. As toxins are released, you may experience a slight headache, coughing, or aching joints and muscles. This is because Reiki is activating your innate healing resources and clearing dis-ease.
With Reiki, I help my clients restore their body's natural rhythm and heal deep rooted trauma. Channeling the love of Holy Fire so stagnant energy may move more freely throughout the body, cleansing toxins and creating a healthy immune system.
Each individual is different in how they feel and experience Reiki energy.
Trust that your experience is exactly what it needs to be during that session!
